Gumbo Cook-Off



Our “Mardi Gras” Gumbo Cook-Off is a delicious way to encourage teamwork and increase camaraderie within a group.

Using ingredients we provide for this fun cooking contest, each team develops its unique recipe and creates their very own taste of New Orleans.

Creative efforts will also be needed in designing a marketing plan - including posters and a song used as a “commercial” to announce their creation.

The tone of your event will be set as teams arrive at the Gumbo Kitchen to the infectious beat of New Orleans music. And we can add our famous Hurricane Challenge to the mix!

Engaging ice breaker activities will result in the formation of teams, each of whom will have their own table, equipped with a cooking pot, mixing spoons, knives, cutting boards, aprons and utensils.

Within the allotted time, each team must create a recipe, prepare its dish, develop a team name, design a team poster, a team song or chant and market their creation.

Teams will also compete in a trivia contest that will reveal some fascinating facts about Gumbo and New Orleans, including its famous Mardi Gras. Once the preparations are completed, the culinary capers begin!

Each team will perform their song and present its dish to the judges. Teams will be judged on creativity, presentation and taste.

Your team will go home from the Gumbo cooking contest with indelible memories of spirit, cooperation and fun!

Aspects of the program may be modified depending on variables including, but not limited to, venue restrictions, program length, and group size.

A restaurant, hotel, or even your company offices. For the iPad® version of this program, Internet access via Wi-Fi must be provided by the client at the event location.

Our Gumbo Cook-Off can include an optional Hurricane Challenge. We select the most pertinent activities based on a needs assessment questionnaire reflecting your groups goals and desired outcomes.

Donation
Ask us about adding a fun Check Donation puzzle activity to the end of your program. It can be for the benefit of any charity and in any amount your company wishes to donate. We can even have a representative from the charity attend your event to accept your donation on behalf of their organization.

Pricing
Pricing varies depending upon the number of participants (minimum of 30) and includes the program, customization, facilitators, master of ceremonies, spices, knives, spoons, bowls, cutting boards, pots, burners, team packets, award medals, and complete event coordination. Client covers the cost of the ingredients for the Gumbo as provided by the venue.
